Corneal Collagen Cross-linking for Keratoconus: A Review

Corneal Collagen Cross-linking (CCL) was introduced and applied to ophthalmology during the past two decades. It has been a major advance in the management of progressive keratoconus and ectasia after laser vision corneal refractive surgery. CCL has successful and significant results in halting the progression of ectasia. The more the prevalence of keratoconus in our region, the more the number of performing this procedure is increasing day by day. There have been many published studies revealing the effect of CCL on corneal steepness, keratometry, pachymetry, visual acuity, biomechanical, and albeit progression of Keratoconus. In this article, many studies related to different aspects and effects of CCL are classified, reviewed, and summarized for concluding this field.
